Sleeping Time is an app to introduce children to good social and healthy habits (like going to bed). You can interact with the virtual characters by connecting the iPad with “smart” physical household objects and toys.

Sleeping Time – Bedtime Routine
By telling a story, singing a song and rocking the monster to sleep, the children can kiss the monster goodnight and tuck him in, before they turn the bedroom lights off.
The main character – the little blue monster prepared to go to bed.
The character needed to represent the whole app mood – The sleepy little friend.

Connecting the iPad with a “smart object” (sticker)
Ideally the smart object would be placed close to the bed (so as the children is encouraged to go to bed). Afterwards the iPad needs to be connected to the “smart object” through the camera, which would turn on after pressing “play”. Once the camera detects it, the game would start.
Interacting with the Monster
Stroking, singing, rocking and other simple interaction suggestions display on the screen to help the children interact with the character. After a predefined time by the parents, the monster will start “feeling” sleepy and the child’s bedroom lights have to be turned off so that both the monster and child can rest.
Insights Dashboard for Parents
The dashboard for parents gives added insight and behavioral statistics on their children’s progress over time. Info like average sleeping time, the child’s favourite interaction, and how much time they’ve been playing can be tracked and overviewed.
